How is it that we have already reached the halfway point of the One Room Challenge? I’m not going to lie, up until this past weekend, I’ve been approaching this challenge pretty leisurely. I’ve ordered almost everything that we need for the makeover, but I’ve put off doing the actual projects with the thought, “there’s time, I’ll get it done.”
But this weekend, a slight wave of panic came over me. Suddenly, a long list of tasks flooded my mind, tasks that hadn’t yet been completed. I felt behind. What have I been doing this whole time?
Time To Get Serious
With the long Memorial Day weekend ahead of me, I made a list of items I needed to complete the three biggest projects. These included completing the campaign dressers I mentioned last week, painting the bamboo dresser, and making the cornice board for above our bed.
After what seemed like forever in Home Depot picking up paint, hardware, and having plywood cut, I was ready to put my headphones on and get to work. Need a good playlist as you’re working on projects? Here’s the one I created.
Here’s a glimpse at this weeks progress:
Y’all I have to admit, I’m pretty proud of the cornice board. Sure, I know it’s nothing real fancy, but I cut out the pattern myself. That’s an achievement for this amateur! And don’t worry, I’ll have a full tutorial coming soon with details on how I’m making our cornice.
The To-Do List:
1. Refinish campaign dressers/polish brass hardware
2. Paint bamboo dresser
3. Paint bamboo lamps
4. Hang TV
5. Hang mirrors over nightstands
6. Make/install window treatments
7. Make/install cornice board over bed (Almost done!)
8. Build/install closet shelves and rods
9. Hang art
