One Room Challenge Week 3 – Campaign Dressers

Welcome to week number three of the One Room Challenge! We have officially reached the point of this makeover where things are becoming a bit messy and chaotic. Clothes are piled up against the wall, misplaced lamps and accessories are strung about, and freshly painted drawers and dressers are taking up what used to be free floor space. But, I’m not complaining because all this means that we are making progress.

Campaign Dressers

This past week, I started working on giving our campaign dressers a much needed refresh. I bought these campaign dressers almost four years ago at Habitat for Humanity for $90 and since then, they’ve been with us through two moves. As you can imagine, they’ve accumulated a few scratches and I’ve been meaning to repaint them for a good two years now. Turns out, participating in the One Room Challenge is great motivation for tackling those things that have been hanging out on my to-do list.

The first time I painted these dressers, I used spray paint which worked out great. However, with our small patio and the hassle of shuffling furniture around, I decided this time around I’d paint them with a foam roller. I got this idea a few weeks ago after I saw Jennifer from Dimples and Tangles giving her gorgeous green hutch a refresh on Instagram stories. I was a little suspicious that the foam roller would give me the smooth finish I really wanted, but after one coat of primer, I was sold. Not to mention, I was able to coat the entire dresser in primer in less than 20 minutes. Mind blown!

I’m not finished with them yet, my goal is to have them both completely finished and clothes back in the drawers by the end of the weekend. Think I can do it? If nothing else, our room being a total disaster with clothes everywhere may just be the motivation I need to get these done!
