I’m back! It has been too long. After such a long break, it’s kind of hard to get started again. You might be wondering where I’ve been for all this time? Or why did I take a break without any sort of warning? The short answer to this is simple, I needed to take a step back. Towards the end of last year, I was feeling so burnt out. I was so overwhelmed with posting here, promoting my posts on my Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and worrying about analytics. It got to be entirely too much and I lost my enjoyment for blogging. I forgot why I started doing this in the first place. It wasn’t bringing me happiness anymore and everything felt forced. I was writing posts for page views and not to share my DIY’s and my home with you all.
At the same time I stepped away from blogging, I also became a SeneGence Independent Distributor (read LipSense). If you would’ve told me a year ago that I would be in network marketing today, I probably would’ve told you you’re crazy. I have truly been such a skeptic of network marketing companies. I really didn’t understand what they were all about. I thought “why don’t they just sell their products in regular stores?” And “are there products really quality items?”. Now, I understand what they’re all about and I’m so thankful to be apart of one. Just in the short time I’ve been apart of SeneGence, I’ve met so many incredible and supportive women, and most importantly I’ve gained a lot of confidence in myself.
I know you may be thinking, “is this girl just going to talk about LipSense, how does that relate to this blog?” Not to worry, I’m not here to give you a sales pitch and this blog will stick to it’s normal home decor and DIY posts, but the confidence that SeneGence has taught me definitely translates over to the blog. Before, I was so worried about what everyone thought about each and every post I published. I’d write a sentence, sometimes a whole paragraph and delete it in fear of what others may think. Now, I’m just going to do me. Simple as that.
Anyway, now that y’all know what I’ve been up to, let’s get to what today’s blog post is really about… my new work space. This year, I have some pretty hefty goals I want to achieve for myself, for Stewart and I, and for my business. So, to kick 2018 off on the right foot, I decided to give my work space some much needed TLC. Before, it was so plain jane, nothing special, but I wanted to create a work space that was inspiring, organized, and a place I wouldn’t mind sitting at all day.

One thing I really wanted to do for 2018 that I’ve never done in the past was create a vision board. I thought it may help motivate me, even on the more difficult days, if I could see what it is I’m working so hard for. To make mine, I used a standard cork board, bamboo that I found at Hobby Lobby in the dried floral section, and my favorite white chalk paint. To cover it, I used sentimental items like family photos and the ribbon they gave me at my grandmothers funeral, motivational quotes, inspirational photos from books and magazines, and photos of things that represent my goals for this year like the magazine clipping of a house.
Because I always need things to be symmetrical, I hung two pieces of art I already had next to my vision board. If you’re hanging things behind your computer, I would suggest hanging the art with the computer on the desk so you can see where it will be visible. I had everything cleaned off the desk while I was hanging the art and almost made the mistake of hanging it too low where it wouldn’t be visible behind the desktop.
As for the accessories, my desk is an antique, so unfortunately it’s not very big, so I had to stick with the bare minimum. I put only the things I truly need out on top of my desk, the rest I put in the drawers. However, even if you have a larger workspace, I would recommend only adorning your desktop with the bare minimum. It helps me stay focused and more organized throughout the day.
If you missed it, you can see how I made that striped box, here.
Finally, I just want to thank all of you who have reached out during my time away. I really appreciate it! Thank you for sticking with me!
